Neighbourhood Plan

Neighbourhood planning is a new way for communities to decide the future of the places where they live and work. The Government introduced the right to carry out neighbourhood planning through the recent Localism Bill.

Exminster Parish Council have registered their intent to produce a Neighbourhood Development Plan (NDP) and have formed a Working Party.  Please see the files below for more information:

Submission of the Exminster Neighbourhood Development Plan

Teignbridge District Council proposes to submit the Exminster Neighbourhood Development Plan (Submission Version) for examination by an independent Examiner.

The Exminster Neighbourhood Development Plan, if adopted by the District Council following a local referendum, will set out local policies relating to development in Exminster Parish area over the next 20 years.

There are six weeks to make representations on the Neighbourhood Plan document starting at 9am Friday 1 August 2014 and ending at 4pm Friday 12 September 2014.  Any responses received after this deadline will not be considered.

Please use the standard response form.  This will ensure that you provide all the information necessary for your response to be valid.  Copies of the response form can be posted on request.

You can also view the documents throughout the consultation period at Teignbridge District Council Offices, Brunel Road, Newton Abbot during normal office hours (8.30am – 5pm Monday – Thursday and 8.30am – 4.30pm Friday) and in Exminster at the Coffee on the Corner Cafe during normal opening hours (9am-5pm Monday-Saturday).

Consultation Activity 1 – Exminster Community Plan

The Exminster Community Plan identifies issues relating to housing, development and infrastructure needs of the parish. The Community Plan was published November 2012.

Consultation Activity 2 – Neighbourhood Area Consultation

As required by Teignbridge District Council (TDC) – To enable people who live, work or carry on business in Exminster Parish to comment on whether the proposed Neighbourhood Plan area is appropriate. The plan area was approved by TDC on 13th December 2012 following the statutory consultation period.

These three drop-in sessions will be hosted by NDP working party focus groups on Wednesday 7th August, Tuesday 13th August and Thursday 22nd August from 6:00pm until 8:00pm.

Funding for the Neighbourhood Development Plan

Exminster Parish Council have been fortunate enough to secure grant funding from the Community Development Foundation, Devon County Councillor Alan Connett (from his Locality Budget) and Teignbridge District Councillors John Goodey and Kevin Lake, to support the production of the Neighbourhood Development Plan.
