Exminster Parish Allotment Society (EPAS) manage the Spurfield allotments adjacent to the skate park at Deepway. The allotments have been running since 2011 when the land was rented from the Parish Council and more recently includes additional land rented from the Feofees Trust. There are 60 plots on the site, 15 larger plots at 100m2 and the rest half plots at 50m2. 10 plots have been occupied by the same holders since 2011! There are always around a dozen on the waiting list but the waiting time is currently only around 18 months.
Over the years the various committee members and plot holders have helped to deliver rainwater collection as well as a potable water supply with three water troughs; also rabbit proof fencing that surrounds the site and free manure and occasional wood chippings.
The plots always look amazing throughout the growing season, with plot holders experimenting with no dig techniques, weed suppression and natural fertilisers. As a non-member, you are welcome to have a wander around the allotments but please stay on the main paths and do not bring dogs.
