Born in Glasgow, Brian grew up and was educated in Dundee, before moving to London to work in the NHS. He spent the next 30 years pursuing a career in health service management, living in many different parts of the country.
In 2000, Brian set up his own consultancy business and worked with health and social care organisations. He was also a Trustee of United Response, a large national provider of support for people with severe learning disabilities and is currently Chairman of Westward Housing Group, a local housing association serving Devon and Cornwall.
Brian settled in Exminster with Caroline in 2000. They each have two children. In recent years he has been active in the local community in various voluntary roles, chairing the Board of Coffee on the Corner, a small social enterprise, for almost 6 years. He also played a prominent part in developing the first Exminster Community Plan and has regularly been spotted treading the boards in the Victory Hall with the annual ExAct pantomime.
He is keen to try to preserve the village feel of Exminster and to use whatever influence the Parish Council has to ensure Exminster remains a healthy, vibrant and enjoyable place to live and work.
